C# and SQL Server developer – Blue Buffalo, East Sussex

Posted 29 October 2016

Blue Buffalo is looking for a full time (or part time, or freelance, or paid placement/apprentice) C# and SQL Server developer to help us support and develop our mission critical, core SaaS system. The company has a small team that punches way above its weight and deals with very high profile, well known global businesses.

The company are print procurement consultants. That means their core business is currently focused on the complex procurement category of print where they have a leading approach to spend analysis, tendering and benchmarking supported by our software platform that has been built entirely in-house.

Job description

The role available is to support and enhance the existing platform and develop new system features and entire modules. Blue Buffalo also conducts a lot of work in terms of integrating with other high profile systems, which the candidate will be responsible for over time.

There will be plenty of time to develop the system and have contact with our clients; both via front line support and through face to face meetings to discuss bespoke work.

The candidate will initially work from a shared office in the Brighton/Newhaven/Eastbourne area (when they find the right candidate, they’ll find the right office) and then may have the possibility to work from home in the future.

Skills and Experience Required

They are looking forward to the successful candidate helping the company grow and the role grow around you in an exciting time for them. You will help push them forward with your ideas for their systems and business.

  • Great writing and communication skills – if spelling and writing clear sentences isn’t your thing, then expert use of a spell checker is essential because you will be interacting with clients
  • Self-motivated and driven – they don’t micro-manage and trust you to go forth and thrive in your own work
  • Ideas driven and not shy to share them or equally, not embarrassed to ask for help
  • A wicked sense of humour

You do not need to be an expert in all areas below. They are not looking for a senior developer (if you are and you’ve read this far, apply anyway) – they are looking for someone to grow with the company and become an expert.

  •  ASP.NET (preferably C#)
  • SQL Server and Transact SQL
  • JavaScript (and jQuery)
  • Source control (ideally Git)
  • Excel – we play a lot with data!
  • Anything else that you can wow us with

Further details

They are completely open minded when it comes to candidates – they are simply looking for the right person for their business. With that in mind, the salary is completely dependent on the candidate and their experience, motivation etc. The right salary is available for the right candidate, and they will take the time to train and give you the skills to grow with the business.

This is an opportunity to work in a very unique business experiencing tremendous growth and to work alongside a strong experienced team. Despite recently celebrating their 11th birthday, they still have that lively, young and flexible start up feel.

Future strategy means that they are currently branching out into other categories of procurement and applying their leading skills and tools there too. Also, as a lot of their print buying users have are serving company marketing departments, they’re also pushing into the area of marketing workflows to enable marketing to brief directly to agencies, media buyers and of course… print buyers.

How to apply

Just drop your CV and an email over to jobs@bluebuffalo.co.uk and they’ll come back to you.

Please mention that you saw this opportunity on the TechResort website. Thanks.
